I don't know about normal, but certainly against the law! Have you tried calling the European Call Centre in Liverpool? Asked your MP to intervene on your behalf? Sent a letter of complaint?

I am certainly no expert on this but I am sure that one of the gurus or moderators on here will get back to you soon with some good advice.

Good luck.

write a letter of complaint. Address it to where you sent your application.
