if you are earning, he (british/ilr) can claim tax credits / housing benefit, child benefit etc.
housing benefit will be paid as if he were a single man with a child.. your income will be classed as his income too.
the same applys for jsa/esa etc.
if he isnt working, put the child benefit in his name so his NI stamp is being paid. (but i would assume it is already in his name etc for "simplicity")
tax credits etc, you can claim working tax credits if you are working over 24 hrs a week average (so week 1 u work 20 hours, but week two you work 30 hours, your average is 50/2=25. (if you understand... it isnt a case that you must work 24 hours EVERY WEEK but your average hours must be 24 hours)
