How early one can apply to extend family visit visa?

Hi please tell how early one can apply to extend his family visit visa?As 2 years visit visa expiring in july 2013 and we need to apply again in april as have travel plans in july 2013.Please advise how early we can apply from date of expiry?

Usually you would not apply more that 3 months before your intended travel as a visitor. You do not say how long you have spent in the UK during the 2 years of the visa, that may have some bearing on how the application is considered too.

Its for parents they have valid till july 2nd week 2013 and visited UK twice last time they have visited for nearly 3 months and go back in october 2012,now they want to come in may so their visa is only till july so i would like to apply for 5 years in april,so can i do it as expiring on 11/07/13.

Why not have the visit in May til July return and then apply prior to their next trip. You did not say how long they stayed on the first visit, assume they have only visited twice on the 2 year visa. Why would they want to apply for a 5 year visa, why not just have another 2 year one?

What are you really intending you have in another post asked about settlement for your parents?

no more applying settlement only visit visa,i just want to know how early we can apply legally visit visa?3 months or 2 months?Please advise?In 2 years they have stayed each tour nearly 3 months.
