Urgent-Child benefit and DLA during medical treatment abroad

Post by helppls » Thu Jan 24, 2013 8:55 am

Hi Everone,

This is regarding my son who is a british citizen but currently out of UK due to medical treatment .

He was diagnosed with autism and currently abroad for his extensive early intervention and therapies.

Please suggest if we should continue his child benefit, DLA and CA for my wife.

Please suggest its bit urgent. They left UK on 16-Sep-2012.

thanks,
helppls

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/kee ... report.htm

Report the circumstances and then leave it to them to determine what happens about future payments. That way, you have done everything within the rules.

if you do not intend to remain out of the uk for over 51 weeks, then child benefit will still be paid.
but you must inform them of an absense of more than 8 weeks.

DLA you have to declare an absence of over 4 weeks...

i believe under EU law DLA still needs paying, but not too certain.

best thing is to get in touch with benefit office, but they will prob fob u off...
