10 year private life

Post by hope4 » Fri Jan 25, 2013 11:53 pm

Dear all,

I would be so utterly grateful for some insight regarding this category. I have been living in the UK since December 2005 continously and I wanted to know if I can apply for the 10 year private life based on the following:

"is aged 18 years or above, has lived continuously in the UK for less than 20 years (discounting any period of imprisonment) but has no ties (including social, cultural or family) with the country to which they would have to go if required to leave the UK"

My visa runs out this May. I have been in the UK for 7 years now, can I apply because the above criteria does not specify when it states less than 20 years. Prior to my stay in the UK I lived for 15 years in my home country (I am now 22 years old) and I came to the UK as a dependant. I live in the UK with my mum and dad and I myself do not have any other family ties with my home country although I do know how to speak(not write) my mother tongue.

Can anyone PLEASE help me in advising if I might be successful in applying for this. I cannot afford the expensive lawyer fees so I am in desperate need for some help!

Many thanks and much appreciated :)

Depends on what the rules are in 2015 when you complete 10 years. Too early to speculate now.
Please do not send me PM if I haven't sent you one yet.

Thankyou for your reply. Sorry I did not mention that my visa is expiring in May this year which is why I am desperate to find a way.
