Dependent Schengen Visa

Hi,

I am based in Pune, India for last couple of years and have an unused dependent visa for UK. My wife is in UK on work visa. We want to travel to Italy for vacation.

1) Where should I be applying for Schengen visa- India or UK?
2) Under which category or visa type should I be applying- dependent schengen visa or tourist schengen visa or any other?

But won't my dependent UK visa cause any problems?

Why I ask this is because while applying for dependent visa I have stated that I am dependent on my spouse and now I'll have to show my salary slips and bank statements.

You dependent visa should not cause you problems. If you meet the visa requirements, you should obtain the visa.
