Acceptable bank account savings?

Post by spoggers » Sat Jan 26, 2013 6:21 pm

Hi all,

I am preparing to apply for my husband's visa (he is from Chile)

As my job doesn't pay enough I am relying on savings. I want to get the best interest rate but I'm not sure about what kinds of bank accounts are acceptable. I have been reading around but I don't want to be caught out and have the application denied for the sake of a little interest.

(a) The savings may be held in any form of bank/savings account, provided that the account allows the savings to be accessed immediately (with or without a penalty for withdrawing funds without notice). This can include, for those of retirement age, savings held in a pension savings account which can be immediately withdrawn.

What about a fixed rate bank account that can be closed and access granted to the savings? What about a bank account that allows just one withdrawal per year?

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Rachel

ARE YOU sure ABOUT just one withdrawal per year ?

surely... more withdrawals are possible with a penalty.

you have answered your own question.. with or without penalty as long as you can get it out...
i am not sure if pension investments are accessible ... check it out

Samispousal,

Thanks for your reply, you are right, I think the account I was looking at you just lost the bonus if you made more than 1 withdrawal a year.

But what about accounts that the only way to get the money out is to close them? You still have instant access but only to all of the money..

Thanks,

Rachel
