Questions about EEA 2 (student) maintenance documents

Post by cathlye » Sun Jan 27, 2013 9:10 pm

Hi,

My finance and I plan to get married in April and then apply EEA2 for me. We have read through HO's website many times, but the requirements are really unclear.

Our situation is:
My finance is a BA student and he is not taking any part-time job at all now. He got both tuition and maintenance loan and scholarship of about 1500 pounds per year.

Our questions are:

1. What's the required amount for saving to support our living in UK? We have about 6000 pounds now, should have around 8000 by May, do we need to borrow some more from our parents?

2. Will HO only check the latest bank statements or do they require several months' bank statements?

3. Can student loan works as source of financial support?

4. Will letter from his parents to prove to provide financial support help?

Quite a lot of questions. We are bit panic now. We have lived together for two years and do love each other a lot. Thanks a lot. :)

1. There is no legal threshold you need to meet.
2. There is no need to submit bank statement if applying as a student.
3. Yes but there is no need to submit proof.
4. No need.

If applyig as a student, he will need a letter from university/college confirming his studies, a declaration signed by him that he has sufficient funds not to become burden on the state (he can state his income in the letter. Legally he is not required to provide proof to support the declaration) and a private health insurance (CSI) for him or a non-UK EHIC.

Hi Jambo,

Thank you for your reply. If student loan can work as source of income, that will be great.

Providing all the proof from uni, banks is not much problem for us. we have kept all the letters from them. Our concern is that we don't want to spam HO with irrelevant documents.

Thank you for your list of required documents.

I came to England under PBS system, that's why I really feel the EEA system is very very vague. and I have no idea how case worker judge whether we have sufficient funding to support us. And compared with PBS system, the requirements under EEA system is really really loose.

But anyway, I think that's good for me. :D

hi,
I have recently won the appeal against the HO decision my wife is a student (Eu) and I applied for RC last year.HO refused my application due to not providing any sufficient funds .Docs I provided were,

1)university letter confirming enrollment
2)scholarship letter for uni fees
3)CSI
4)declaration of sufficient funds

According to the case worker the docs were not sufficient but the judge clearly said that declaration is more than enough also I later provided the maintenance loan (1775 Euros/year) letter which was really help full .You can also add any current payslips if you are working, would be a plus point.
(I did not provide any bank statements at any stage ).

BIl
