Under UK law there is no compulsion for a wife to adopt her husband's surname on marriage. It is merely a convention that most choose to follow.

In some cultures special rules tend to apply ..... Mr Singh married to Mrs Kaur .... and that is no problem at all.

In summary, it is totally up to you whether you adopt your husband's surname.

my question is if UKBA will reject my application because my marriage certificate is in my husband name while my passport is still in my maiden name

I do not understand "because my marriage certificate is in my husband name". You are getting married in the UK? If so the marriage certificate names the two people immediately before the marriage, so it would be wrong to talk about the certificate being in the husband's name.

Two people are named ..... the husband .... the wife (in her pre-marriage name). It certainly does not say what name the wife will adopt after marriage.

If a non-UK marriage, I think you need to explain what the certificate says.

No, it will show your name immediately prior to the marriage.

For example if Adrian Brown is marrying Catherine Dawkin, it will show those two names. It will certainly not show Catherine Brown.

As said before, there is no compulsion for you to change your name on marriage. It is merely a convention that most choose to follow.
