Hi All,

I have just stumbled upon this forum after a desperate search for a seemingly simple question which goes the following:

I am a Hungarian national arrived and settled in the UK in the summer of 2007. After a short delay I applied and received my WRS certificate on 31 January 2008, exactly 5 years ago.

I now would like to apply for British citizenship. It is not clear however if I needed to apply for a document certifying permanent residence and wait for another year before proceed with the citizenship application or could I apply for British citizenship anytime from now on (as I have been in the UK for longer than 5 years now).

Any help would be much appreciated.

You can apply for citizenship one year after qualifying for PR.

U can apply for bc ones u hv live in uk for 5years and exacise
Ur treaty right+ 1years making 6years if u can provide
Document to provie that all 6years as in EEa and provide
Document for this section(Q2.4/2.6) as in (eea3/ee4) for the aplication pls if

Your understanding is correct.

However when cases are not straightforward (such when a divorce is involved), I would recommend to first apply for PR Confirmation (EEA4) and not apply directly. This way there is no fee to risk (application is free) in case you are missing some of the required documents. Naturalisation applications cost £851.

It is a similar advice for RoR. Unless your PR time is near, better to make a new RC application (based on RoR) close to the divorce when it is still relatively easy to obtain the documents. It is not a legal requirement but will probably make it easier for you.

Aplication form I really know but
What give me consign is this

1 I get married on5.07.09
My wife 09 true December but
Little brake inbetwen and apply
For JSA, housing with my
Consient with another adress
And I get letter in my address
That will live together in apprie
2010 that she need to return
Part of the housing benefit
But they her ready to pay her now
The jsa but I angry with her and
She start to pay till now because
She star her jobs that she doing
Till now from apprie 2010
Till but we will file divource this month
Or next month and she give me all
Her document incase I need them
And tell me if I need more I should
Let her now that we need to go
Seperate now because she shit and tell
Me strait good I hv her all payslip from
Less say09 till now and her p60 bank
STM and our joint name on bt from 2010
Till 2011 but 2012 just direct debit on her
AC from aol 09 too aol direct debit in her
AC and all this things is with till now
But I hv move to new adress and she still
In our second address but no utility but
Work prove is their and bank STM

Can I uesd this for naturalisation
Or retain right and she still working
And all our life time live in share house

You can apply for citizenship one year after qualifying for PR.

Thank you EUsmileWEallsmile. If my understanding is correct then applying for a permanent resident status is optional and not necessary but may save some time and work when applying for naturalization a year later.

You still have time until you can apply for naturalisation.

If she is working now, you will be able to apply for confirmation that you have retained your rights once the divorce is finalised.

You will probably be able to secure PR in April 2015 and apply for BC one year after that.

From the day of issued of rc
Or from the day of married

For exsanple I married EEA on05.07.09
Rc issued on 10.03.10 when is my 5yrs
Conplete is he 05.07.14 or
10.03.15 pls I need response on this pls

It starts from the day of marriage but it requires the EEA national to exercise treaty rights. From what I understood from your post, she started working only in April 2010 so the clock started then. If she exercised treaty rights before (without a break), then the 5 years would start then.
