naturalization for eea couple

Post by boloney » Wed Jan 30, 2013 8:54 pm

hi. I`m about to apply for naturalization by post for myself and my wife.
I have few questions regarding supporting documents.
We will be sending those:
EU Passports
Permanent residence cards
Marriage certificate (should I send Polish marriage or translated and attested copy? )
Letter confirming success in the Life in the UK
what about Evidence of lawful residence during the 5 years? it was showed while applied for eea3, do we have to send it again? if so should we send 5 years worth of bank statements?
also I have my PR card from 2009 should I send them bank statements from 2009 until now to show that I was`t outside UK during that time?
I know silly question but there is no stamps in ours passports so how will they find out if we were in the UK?
also I was stopped by customs and my cigarettes were seized, I will be explaining that, but there is question 3.16 Have you ever engaged in any other activities which might indicate that you may not be considered a person of good character? should I tick yes/no?
hope someone can shed some light on this.
thanks

Passport and PR card should normally be enough although the HO might ask for some more evidence. If you have worked in the UK during that period, you can send your P60's or employment history from HMRC (one page detailing your tax). I would make it simple and not drop tons of paperwork on the caseworker. Worst case, he will write to you and ask for more evidence. He will not refuse the application because of that.

The marriage certificate is only required to enjoy from a joint fee. I would send the original and a translation if you have one. I suspect by now, the HO is quite familiar with Polish certificates...

For the custom issue, it's your call. You don't really need to disclose it but no harm in disclosing it either.

Thanks Jambo.
I`m self employed so will be sending self assessment any way, do you think sending them covering period from 2009 it`s good idea?
will they definitely ask for more evidence and not refuse the application? I don`t wanna loose fees because of that.
But what do you think I should tick in question 3.16 yes/no? regarding custom issue? I may as well let them know about it as was advised before. if I don`t that may become issue them if it isn`t right now.
is there anything else I`m missing or that all documents needed?my wife is housewife right now so no evidence regarding her work done previously needed a`I right?
