France work permit timing

Hello,
I have received a job offer in france, and the employer has started the due procedure in December. I have no news since then.
I have been told that after 4-6 weeks the authority would have decided on the matter and issued an ok letter for me, the employer and the French consulate in Brazil (where I am), but this has not happened yet, and more than 6 weeks have passed.
How long does this usually take? Is there a tracking tool where the employer can check what the status is?
