Tier 1 General Extension Problem

Post by faithronmu » Fri Feb 01, 2013 9:10 am

I went to apply for my tier 1 general extension and the UKBA lady said on looking through my invoice and bank statement I should reply to the following issues;
1.Why is 3 of my invoices bearing my own name.
2.Why is invoice payments going into one of my account and gets transferred to another account after few days on several occasions.

I explained to her that I was paid cash for services render to my clients but I use and internet banking transfer to send the money to my business account n order to reflect the payment made to me that's is why it I made the invoice in my own name to tally up with the name on my bank statement.
About the second issue raised,I told her that since I am operating a business with the account and i do transfer the money to make payment for several services and commitments that I need to run my business.

Please can advise me on what steps I should take because I have been told to send my response in 14 days to Sheffield.
I await your assistance about this issues.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. As stated in my earlier post,I went to CRoydon PEO on the 30/01/2013 for the extension of my Tier 1 general application.I am both employed and self -employed.My employment earnings was £43,690 while my self-employment earning was £12,190.I only need £50,000 to meet up the required point for my renewal.I use 2 bank statements in which one was where my salary was being paid and the second for the self employment earnings.

The following issues were the things the UKBA lady asked me to send to Shefield in 14 days.
1. where were they no name in 3 of the invoices summary that i submitted.

My answer was: there were names in the invoices i submitted but the accountant made an error in omitting three names while printing the summary of self employment earnings but the amount was indicated.I asked her to checked the invoices but she did not bulge.

2. Why did you invoice yourself 3 times in the self employment.

My answerr was : someone paid me cash for the service i rendered but since i could not go to the bank on those days, i did an internet tranfer from my one of my bank account to the business account(self employ).I did give the customer an invoice for the services rendered, but since the amount transfered showed my name in the business acount i wrote an invoice again to bear my name in order to match up what is in my business account so that their will be consistency between my account and my invoice that i will be submitting.

3.Why are u invoicing your business account and after some some couple of days the money is transfered to other account on couple of occasions.

My Response:this is a business account and i do need to use to money to pay for spare parts and other materials as well other things to run my business.

These are my explainations and i would like to know what is your opinion about all these issues.Hoping to hear from you soon.

even if you are getting cash payments, why would you put your own name on the invoice?

invoices are meant for customers and their name should appear on it

if you put your own name, CW will ask what is the evidence that you havent taken the money out from some other account belonging to you & deposited in this account?

I thinik, you should get a letter from accountant explaining the situation, also provide the bank statements of the account where you have been transfereing the money and highlight them with a marker. I think, that should be sufficient. However, do get other peoples opinion too.

This still does not sufficiently explain why you are invoicing yourself. Regardless of the method of payment, you would usually (and ESPECIALLY when accepting cash payments) issue an invoice to the person making the payment.

From the outside, it just looks like you are moving money from one account to the other and raising invoices for this to bump up your earnings.

EDIT: sorry, I missed a piece because you keep responding with similar things and editing previous posts. So you also gave the customer an invoice for the same amount that you invoiced yourself for? That's then double-counting? Or did you not submit the invoices that you issued for your customers? Somewhere, something doesn't add up and we can only help you if you explain what actually happened, because at the moment, your story isn't very consistent.
