BRP Validity dates

Post by twister » Fri Feb 01, 2013 10:48 am

Hi all.

Thanks a lot for the guidance here. I applied for my Tier 1 (G) ext on Oct. 30 by post, my leave was supposed to expire on Nov. 5, 2012.

Received approval on Jan 29, and got my BRP yesterday (Jan. 31, 2013). The validity of the permit is from date of approval (Jan 29, 2012) rather than Nov. 5 or 6, 2012. Is that correct? I just got 3 months of extra leave?

Just FYI - this was on employment with a company.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Yes, this is correct. LTR grants cannot be backdated. They need to be either from the date of the decision or from the date of current LTR expiry date if that date is no more than 28 days in the future from the decision date.

I was in a similar situation last year and gained a few extra days of leave due to the delay in the UKBA T1G postal application processing times.
