Tier 1 General Extension - Accountant Letter

Post by zen135 » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:37 pm

Hello Experts,

I'll be applying for my Tier 1 Extension soon. I would be submitting an Accountant's letter with my application specifying my self-employed income(as a sole trader). I was wondering which one of the following wordings should we use to describe my net profit(calculated on the Profit & Loss statement - also submitted with the application) for the period of earnings - 'pre-tax profit' or 'net profit before tax' ?

Which wording would be less confusing to the Caseworker?

Any comments would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have submitted a letter from accountant for self employment income (sole trader) and in my case the accountant had sufficient knowlege what to include in the statement.

Also find detailed information on pages 19-23 for self employment income

Thanks for your rely sonub4ualt. I've checked the guidance. Basically, the problem is my accountant letter mentions 'net profit before tax' but my immigration advisor suggested to put the term 'pre-tax profit' instead.

I've been told that both the terms mean the same thing and it shouldn't matter.

Can anyone else confirm?

Also, sonub4ualt, if you don't mind me asking, what term did your accountant use?

Hi,

I have applied recently in Dec'12 and awaiting decision on my application, so not sure what were the terms used. I cannot recall exactly, but as far as I remember, he mentioned two things gross income and net income. I dont think this should be of any concern, because both the terms pre tax profit and net profit before tax mean the same.

Hi,

Thanks to the forum members, I have received my approval letter and documents. The term used by my accountant was Net profit.
