Citizen of the UK and Colonies Passport help and advise

Dear fellow members

I would be grateful if you could help on the following:

My uncle was a citizen of the UK and colonies and held a passport to that effect. However, he renounced this passport in July 1980 to obtain Kenyan nationality.

Is he entitled to claim any British rights i.e. British passport or even the right of abode? If so, what is the correct procedure to follow?

Any feedback would be great.
