HI IM A BRITISH CITIZEN, I HAVE JUST APPLIED FOR MY HUSBANDS ILR, I HEARD I COULD'NT RECIEVE CHILD TAX CREDIT IF IM APPLYING FOR ILR SO I CALLED THEM UP TO STOP MY CLAIM, THEY ASKED FOR MY HUSBANDS WORK DETAILS AND SAID HIS ENTITLED TO WORKING TAX CREDIT AFTER I TOLD THEM HIS NOT ENTITLED TO ANY PUBLIC FUNDS, TODAY IV BEEN TOLD BY A FRIEND THAT HIS VISA WILL GET REFUSED COZ OF WORKING TAX CREDIT, IT IS ON BOTH OF OUR NAMES. I AM RECIEVING CHILD TAX CREDIT, WORKING TAX CREDIT AND CHILD BENEFIT... IM SO WORRIED PLS REPLY ASAP COZ I DNT KNOW WHAT TO DO...

You've done exactly the right thing by applying for tax credits in joint names.
This won't affect your husband's application....so don't cancel them.

ADVICE BUREAU SAID IT WILL AFFECT HIS CASE. SO STOP IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE THEY ALSO SAID TO HAVE THE CTC PUT ON UR NAME ALONE... DNT INCLUDE UR PARTNERS NAME IN IT

there is an exception for working tax credit, child tax credit and child benefit in the immigration rules that effectively states that for the purposes of these three benefits, if one member of a couple is elegible then for the purposes of these benefits (ONLY) it will be deemed that BOTH members of the couple are elegible for the benefits (and have full recourse to public funds - FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE THREE LISTED BENEFITS)

Tax credits MUST be claimed in joint names (otherwise it is fraud) and child benefit can be claimed in EITHER name.

This will not affect any immigration case.
