Passport application - countersignees

Post by hsmp28122006 » Sun Feb 10, 2013 10:48 pm

Hi Guys,

How do you find a passport application referee mentioned here:

https://www.gov.uk/who-can-sign-passpor ... plications

My job (Software Engineer) is such that I don't generally get to see the people with above professional standings.

Thx!

You might find people in your organisation who are Charted Engineers. They are on the list.

Also, you don't need to know them in a professional context. A neighbour/friend who is accountant/teacher/lawyer etc is also acceptable.

Actually, my countersignatory was a member of the BCS.

AFAIK you don't really need a chartered one!

As I read "member, associate or fellow of a professional body", hence just an associate should be enough (in my case was a professional member, but not chartered).

The easiest person to find if you are software engineer is

director/manager/personnel officer of a VAT-registered company

Warm regards,
Senthil

Thanks mate. Thing is, officer "of" a company is not the same as officer "in" a company.

Anyway I found a Chartered Engineer finally - so problem solved :)
