MN1 - questions

Post by sanch_c » Mon Feb 11, 2013 4:06 pm

hi,
I received my ILR last year and am shortly going to apply for my citizenship. My son (18 months old- born in the UK before receiving ILR) will be applying along with me.
As i have understood it, i will have to apply for his citizenship using the MN1 forms, while i use the AN form. A few queries
1. I assume the referees for both the applications can be very different. Is that correct
2. a professional referee for my son is getting to be a bit difficult. Can my neighbour, who is a doctor in a hospital, and has known him socially since he was born, act as one. Alternately, will one of the workers at the nursery he goes to (Ofsted registered) be eligible to act as one
3. My AN form has no mention on the MN1 going along with it. Can i specify somewhere, that if no any reason whatsoever, i do not receive the citizenship, i don't want my son getting it either

Also, i have read a number of queries on travelling on one's old passport after getting the citizenship using one's ILR visa. HAs any one had any experience of that post the introduction of biometrics. My ILR is not on my indian passport but is a different card all together. Are there likely problems on that

1. That's correct.
2. Both should be fine. See also the question in Citizenship FAQs - Common Questions - Read before posting - Children.
3. Section 7.7 on form MN1. Just don't tick that. You might want to add a cover letter to this effect as your child application is entitlement. No discretion is needed.
