New Life in the UK

I know this has been discussed a zillion times before and please accept my sincere apologies for raising the topic again.

I was watching TV and this solicitor said wether of not you passed your Life in the UK test, if you are applying your settlement after 25th of March 2013 you have to sit in new edition test.

Now personally I found it a little absurd but since the guy was on tv and "supposed to know what he's talking about" it got us a little confused.

Also, I couldn't find anything on ukba website so any reference would be great.

I certainly haven't heard of such a requirement. The current LITUK test result has no expiry date, so is valid indefinitely.

If you happen to know that what you say, is stated in an official capacity by the UKBA, I'm sure it will be of interest to those of us on this forum who have already taken the test and intend to use that result for either thier ILR or Naturalisation applications in the future.

Please give further details about this TV programme, channel,date & time..by the way I've had a look at the new book and found it very interesting and print quality is better!

I'd take a good guess on which TV programme who heard this 'advice'.
It's incorrect. If you passed an earlier version of the KOL test it will remain valid for both ILR and British Citizenship.

Have no idea which program or channel it was.
Was flipping through channels and suddenly heard "life in the uk" so carried on watching it.
Yeah I personally thought that this so called solicitor is wrong but worth a thread I guess.

LI UK TEST pass certificate is valid irrespective ,when you sat for the Exam. Imagine sitting for this New test again!!!

The Life in UK website very clearly states following (as of now):

Your Life in the UK Test Certificate does not have an expiry date on it. You should therefore keep it in a safe place until you are ready to submit the original with your application for Citizenship or Settlement.

I have heard this too today on ARY "Law and You" The solicitor was Mr. Liaquat. Although he is a sensible solicitor, personally I don't agree that you need to re-take the LIUK Test even after 25 March

There are so many threads are posted like this. " Solicitor" said this and that". I have found in this forum Members are more knowledgeable and informed than the Solicitors. Don't think this type of professional advise any one would get from a Solicitor.

definitely both the tests are valid for lifetime. its just tht after 25th march you wont have the option to take the old test!

LI UK Test Pass certificate must be valid indefinitely. Otherwise UKBA would have informed ," Whoever has passed the LIUK Test must apply for their ILR with in a specified time period".
