Tier 2 (General)- switching job title before applying

Post by divesh777 » Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:21 pm

Hi all,

i would really appreciate if i could get some advice on my situation; i wrote a previous post which went unanswered.

Anyway, i am a QA tester in a company that i have been working for just over a year. Looking at the recent list of occupation titles and salary i have noticed that for the role of a QA test analyst, the salary would need to be 28k which is far above my current salary. However, my company is looking for a graduate developer role which im pretty sure i can get if i go for it; the salary that my company is giving matches the salary of graduate developer in the ukba list.

Now my question is, would i be able to apply for a TIER 2 (General) visa as a graduate developer even though i have worked for the same company for over a year as a different role. Note, i am 80% sure i can, because the criteria is that i should be employed and have hands in experience AS A Graduate Developer for 6 months or less, it does not say i should have worked for the company for 6 months or less. However, i need to be 100% sure before i can apply for the work permit.

I hope i can get some help on this forum.

Best Regards and Thanks,
Divesh.

According to your other post you are at present on a PSW visa (which you omitted to say in this post). If that is the case your present job and salary are irrelevant for the T2G application.

It is for the sponsor to determine your job description and SOC code for the CoS and once you have the CoS your application must reflecty exactly what is in the CoS.

Hi Manci,

Thanks for your reply.

Ok, so what i understand from that, is that i can successfully apply for the T2G work permit as a Graduate Developer (even though i have worked for this company in a different role for over a year) provided that my application reflect exactly what is in my company's Certificate of Sponsorship. Is that right?

Divesh.
