Urgent-Please advise- Online Tier 1 General Visa Application

Post by SeemaJayan » Tue Feb 19, 2013 10:29 pm

Hello,

I'm currently on Tier 1 General working in UK, and my husband is on Tier 2 (Work Permit) in UK. I'll be completing 5 years in May and become eligible for ILR in May. I have been advised that in order for my husband to apply for ILR along with me in May 2013, he will first need to covert to a dependent Tier 1 visa - we plan to apply for this in MArch 2013 in India.
After reading recent UKBA updates, understand this application needs to be made online. However, when we go to the below offical link for all online visa applications ( http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx), in the drop down list under 'Type of Visa' - the only ones listed are 'Exempt/Other/Settlement/Study/Transit/Visit/Work'.
We have tried most of them and unable to find the right category for dependent online visa application (VAF10 form I presume).
Please advise which options to choose to make the Tier 1 General dependent application.

Also, if all goes well, and my husband is granted a Tier 1 General Dependent Visa in March 2013, will he be eligible to apply for ILR along with me in May/June 2013, or is there a min duration before which he can apply for the same (We've both been in UK for the last 5 yrs, only under different visa categories, and can provide evidence of us living together for the last 2 yrs

Please advise as we plan to start the next steps for March application in the next few days time !

Thanks
A.

Even if your husband becomes your dependant now , he won't qualify for ILR until he completes 5 years on PBS dependant category.

The rules have changed last year. Also see FAQ Q12
