Applying for a spouse visa but visitors visa still current

I am a UK citizen just starting work in a job that will meet the new financial threshold. I want my Ukrainian wife to apply for a spouse visa after the statutory 6 months. But we don't want to be apart for the 6-9 months it will take to get a visa.

She has visited the UK many times. If we apply for a visitors visa now we are sure to get it. But as it will be valid for 6 months, it will still be valid by the time we apply for a spouse visa.

Will that pose a problem as normally you can only have one visa a year?

The time limit on visit re-entry is restricted to re-entry with a visit visa. So, she can apply for another type of visa and re-enter the UK at any time.
