USA Citizen Minor Child, British Father Returning to UK

I currently reside in the USA, and have a minor child in my physical custody who is a US citizen. I am looking to move back to the UK, but have no idea how to get a visa for my son, and what is required so that he can come with me to live back home, attend school, etc.

His mother is a US citizen also, and I am seeking her permission to allow him to come to the UK with me. I may also have to go to court in the USA to get permission, which would be virtually impossible if she refuses.

Can someone please advise me what steps I must take to have my son become resident in the UK.

I was born in the UK. Have only lived in the USA for the last 15 years as a permanent resident.

Are you married to the child's mother, or, failing that, named on the birth certificate as the child's father?

Whats the Date of Birth of the child? was he born before or after 2006. If in 2006, what is the precise month?
