ILR Success (tier 1 General) - Glasgow 19 Feb 2013

Post by mars80 » Fri Feb 22, 2013 5:35 pm

I've had my ILR granted and would like to thank this forum for all the help that was provided. I was particularly anxious given that I recently lost my passport during my Christmas holidays and accordingly did not have my Tier 1 vignette or any of my travel visa stamps.

[As a side note I travelled twice back to the UK between loss of my passport and getting ILR this week and the immigration officers at Heathrow still let me through after checking my visa status in the back office after I got my replacement passport. The second office actually put a temporary stamp indicating the date of expiry of my Tier 1 visa]

Here was what I submitted:

- SET (O) application form
- 2 passport photos
- bank statements and payslips for the past 12 months
- letter from employer confirming pay
- letter from employer confirming travel out of the country
- my new passport
- Life in UK test letter

Additional docs (since I lost my passport):
- spreadsheet of my travel dates. As I did not have my passport I also printed off any e-tickets I could find (although I did not have all records)
- police report for lost passport
- letter from embassy indicating lost passport

Overall it was a very easy process. Here is a rough outline:

11:00 - got to PEO for 11:30am appointment
11:25 - officer gives ticket (tickets only issued 5 mins before appointment time)
11:35 - called to window where documents went through initial check. No questions but then told to sit down and wait for biometrics
12pm - went into room to get biometrics processing done - fingerprinting etc.. Got told to wait again
1pm - Got called again to counter. ILR approved (officer said "you passed easily with flying colours" before engaging in some friendly chitchat). Overall staff were extremely friendly and overall experience good!

Now I just have to wait to apply for citizenship! Thanks everyone for your help on the forums.
