Urgent Help on MAC report

Post by APAN DESAI » Sun Feb 24, 2013 10:51 pm

Dear all Gurus,
I need your direction on recent MAC report. The maths teacher post is going to be removed from shortage occupation list after 2 years as per the Sunset Clause.

I have just renewed(extension) my Tier 2 Visa as Maths teacher (till Nov 2014). I got 2 years extension. However I need 6 more months in order to qualify for Indefinite Leave to remain.

Could I apply for the extension in Nov 2014 if the Maths teacher job is not going to be anymore on Shortage Occupation list?

If not, what I should do to avoid this disappointment?

You seem to have totally misread the recommendations of the MAC report. None of this is applicable. The sunset clause has not been recommended. They have specifically said it would harm Maths teaching in the UK.

"The main concerns over a 2 year sunset clause include:
automatic removal from the list after 2 years would cause significant difficulties in some key areas for UK Plc. These include: teaching maths, electricity distribution and world class performing arts."

Thanks for your response.

I agree with your answer. However if Maths teacher post has been removed after 2 years in a worst scenario, Could I apply for the further extension of six months only.

It won't be removed. But providing you didn't change employers, you wouldn't need to complete the RLMT anyway!! It would literally make no difference to you.
