Question about bringing my new born son using visitor visa

Post by lomboz » Mon Feb 25, 2013 12:06 am

My son was born in the UK, but had to leave the UK for a familiy visit overseas, for few months. I have not applied for visa for him before leaving, which means I need to apply for the visa overseas.
The problem that I don't have any immediate appointment.

Is is possible/advisable to bring the baby to the UK for a few weeks as a visitor and then to go back home overseas to apply for the dependent visa? given that citizens of my home country doesn't need to apply for a visitor visa when visiting the UK.

Yes, just make sure the person with whom he is travelling knows what to say in answer to any probing questions. If that person is not a visitor herself, then there will be a lot of questions.

Both parents have resident permits to live in the UK and the child was born in the UK. It's very unlikely they will not refuse entry to a child, but they will be very keen to know that it's a visit and the child will be returning. I'm not the UKBA but if I were, I would consider stamping the mother's entry as a visitor also, rather than as a PBS dependant.

My wife would like to come here this month, she is travelling back next month anyway, by then I will have a scheduled appointment.
Technically, the reason I want to bring my son as a visitor is that it is not possible to get this visa within 1-2 weeks
My wife and the baby will be here for 3 weeks and then they will travel again. and then they can apply for the visa.

BTW - if they stamp my wife's passport as a visitor, does this means her tier 1 dependent visa is cancelled? and she needs to apply again?
