[Solved] Croatia entering EU and tier 4

Post by rgacesa » Tue Feb 26, 2013 12:41 pm

Hi to everyone,

Basically, I am interested in whether Croatian residents will require tier 4 visa (or any other visa for that matter) to study in UK once Croatia enters EU.

According to UK Border Agency, EEA citizens do not require visa to study in UK, however they also mention (likely) restrictions for Croatian citizens and there is no information about would-be EU members (such as Croatia), so I am bit confused about the whole thing.

Thanks for assistance,
Ranko

[SOLVED]: Managed to solve the issue, here are details in case someone else has same problem:

Basically Croatia will get treated same as Romania or Bulgaria after entering EU (meaning that tier 4 or any other visa is not required for study in UK) (ofc unless something else is decided on the matter, but so far there are no official decisions from UK border agency),

Details from Worldbridge:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting WorldBridge Service, The UK Border Agency's Commercial
Partner. We appreciate your patience regarding the response to your enquiry, as

you will find the response to that enquiry.

If you would like to see what policy applies currently to EEA – nationals (Schengen
country nationals), please see the following website:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/eucit ... sibilites/

Note that some countries are members of EU but not members of the Schengen area, but
the policy referring to EEA-nationals applies to them the same.

Nationals of countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland have the
right of free movement and residence in the UK.

You may see what policy may prospectively apply to Croatian nationals, if you use
the „Do I need a visa;” tool and choose for ex Bulgarian nationality , purpose:
study.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ed-a-visa/

Same policy does not automatically apply to all EEA (EU) members.
For example Romanian and Bulgarian nationals are restricted from the right of doing
working without having to register (but they can study in UK without a UK visa):
