two questions

Post by 2s0e0p1 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 11:41 am

Hello all,

I have two questions.

1. I applied for naturalisation back in November. 7th November. Since then I have not heard from them apart from a letter saying the application has been received and payment taken. It has now almost 4 months. Please can you advise what I can do to make an enquiry? is there a number I can call.

2. I moved home from 1st of february. I did inform UKBA by filling out the form on their website well in advance but is there a way to confirm that the address has been updated on their system? as I have no confirmation.

Please help - I am pretty stressed.

many thanks in advance

Have you checked with your previous address if there is any post for you?
Did you do a Royal Mail Redirection service?

UKBA will not provide any updates if it is less than 6 months.

Hello 2s0e0p1,

I applied under the 10 year rule as well. I applied a week before you and I am still waiting too

Just to give you some reassurance, there are lots of people who have been waiting for months.

If you gave UKBA plenty of notice before you changed your address, you will just need to wait until after the 6 months before you can ask for an update. UKBA don't take phone calls anymore by the way. You can only email them
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it...

Hello - thanks very much for the reply.

slightly reassuring too :)

Yes I have royal mail redirection on and I informed UKBA at least 7 days before leaving the property.

bigsam - thanks for your response too. I will wait for 6 months to conclude I guess.

You are welcome buddy!!!

I was getting very anxious the first couple of weeks of February but now I have moved on. It will come in its own time.

With redirection, there is a couple of days delay. You never know, it may very well be on its way to you now

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Quick question.

I applied via NCS - are you sure they send via Royal Mail and not special delivery?

Also am I correct that the process to follow is this

1. I will receive letter from UKBA
2. I will contact council to book ceremony
3. I will apply for passport

Thanks

Also am I correct that the process to follow is this

1. I will receive letter from UKBA - Yes - some people get the approval letter and then the invitation letter about 2 weeks later. Other people (myself included) only get 1 letter which is the approval and invitation letter all in one.
2. I will contact council to book ceremony - Yes, depending on which type of letter you get and you will have 21 days from date of letter to make the appoinment for your ceremony and you have to attend the ceremony within 3 months from date of approval otherwise you have to apply and pay the fee again for naturalisation.
3. I will apply for passport - yes, but only once you have attended the ceremony and received your certificate.

Thanks

if six months go past and I do not hear from UKBA then what is the process of contacting them? is it via email or I can call them on some number?

It seems that phone lines have been shut down to applicants and the only way to contact the UKBA is through email

There is a phone number here but I never tried it
