Naturalisation of a fresh EEA

Post by LuckyLuke » Fri Mar 01, 2013 11:20 pm

Hi,

I am a Polish citizen from birth and I'm
planning to apply, along with my wife, for the
British citizenship.
We moved to United Kingdom in April 2006.

The Booklet AN states on page 9 that an EEA national does not have to
apply for indefinite leave to remain and can apply straightaway for
the British citizenship provided that 6 years (5+1) have passed since
starting to reside in the UK.
This is all clear, but there is one thing that worries me. My
wife acquired her Polish citizenship in August 2009. Her previous
citizenship was Belarusian.
Do you know if the 6 years period rule is still valid in
her case and if she can apply for the British citizenship without
applying for indefinite leave to remain first or having to wait longer before applying?
I would be grateful for your help.

Luke

Her nationality doesn't really matter. She will be dependant on your activities.

I suggest you read Q5 & Q6 in Citizenship FAQs - Common Questions - Read before posting.
