HiEntrepreneur9 wrote:Hello Everyone,
I have completed a general MBA and my specialisation was Marketing and Business Management. I am currently on PSW and wish to switch to Entrepreneur £50000 route. I have registered a company with the company house - XYZ IT Services Ltd and I am a Sales and Marketing Director.
What I am presently doing is - I buy faulty mobile phones and laptops in a lot and then pass them to a repairing shop to fix them all. Once they are fixed, I then sell them individually and make some profit out of it. In future I plan to hire 2 employees who can repair phones and laptops for my company. My question is - can i show this business while applying for the visa? I understand that the business activity is not according to the level of my qualification however my job title is NVQ Level 4 and above (sales and marketing director). Do you all think this would be ok?
If I cannot use the above business plan then can you please help me as to what extra service my business should provide so it falls under that category and also side by side I can continue buying and selling laptops and phones.
PS: I do not have any IT background and have no knowledge in the field. The reason I selected this business is because IT business is usually classed above the level 4 category.
I am really confused and your help would be really appreciated.
Waiting for your favourable response.
God Bless You All !!

Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes my role is to provide marketing services for my business. I have a general MBA in marketing and I wish to work in the marketing department.
Any suggestions??

I really appreciate what you are saying.
Its not the question about my degree. I think I can be a marketing director of my own business. I have seen applicants in this forum who have applied as a sales and marketing director and their visa has been approved.
Sales and Marketing Director falls under NVQ Level 6 - SOC Code- 1132.

I know many friends who got visa, opening a retail business using title of Marketing Manager NQF6 etc but new rules after 13-12-12 clearly states that you cannot provide NQF4 or above level service for your own business, as it will account as admining your own business...So service should be for other businesses.

tikejhya wrote:Well, are you sure what you are claiming "Enterprenure123". Is it stated in ukba guidance somewhere? looks like its more interpretational. I understand You cannot administer, maintain or work on functions of website. Where? your own company where you build your website from scratch which provide's services OR in others business that does these above maintioned or simillar things.
You cannot run retail such as grocery and off-license but what about IT services who sales domain like godaddy to indivuals and what about Vodafone who sales telephone contract for individuals and what about those Giffgaff, home internet service provider.
I think its upto the one how people write's business plan.
Ofcourse in some extent that is true but i would say it depends upon nature of business.
Please correct if m wrong
