need to travel urgently but still waiting for BRP

Hello, my ILR has been approved but my previous stay before I got my ILR approved is still valid till July 2013 and I need to travel urgently this week.
Please I need anybody's advice on the below:

I want to travel this week and will ask my wife to send my BRP to me by post as soon as it arrives. Is this okay or should I wait as I urgently need to travel?
