which date to consider for ILR application

HI,
I am bit confused with what date shall I consider to make an appointment for ILR ,my details of dates are :

My entry date (date landed in UK) was 3rd May, 2008
My visa valid from date is 1st May 2008
My visa valid until date is 1st May 2013

The rule is unclear.

If I take 3rd May and subtract 28 days my eligibility comes to 5th
April.

If I take 1st May and subtract 28 days my eligibility comes to 3rd
April.

Which date can I go in person at the earliest, is it 3rd April or 5th April

Please help!!!

my wp was issue aboard ..so does 3rd april still is valid date for appointment?
