ILE with expiry date.

My mom got elderly dependent visa(Visa settlement to join/acc relative) on October 2010 with expiry date of March 2014. The expiry date is same as passport expiry date. After my quick research I found that Indefinite leave to enter the UK does not expire. people say that its same like ILR.
My questions are:

- Do we need to apply extension or another visa stamp on March 2014?

- After March 2014, with new passport, how will she travel with this visa. Reason is, sometimes immigration people just look at visa on old passport with expire date and reject the entry as they are not completely aware of terms and conditions?

- Is there any limits to stay out of country on ILE, if yes then how long ?

She can carry her old passport with any new passport issued, or apply for the visa to be inserted into her new passport. Her time outside the UK is limited to 24 consecutive months.
