IRL, Tourist visa and student visa

Post by Lucy81 » Tue Mar 05, 2013 2:53 pm

Hello everyone! I came to the UK in January 2004. I got a 6 months visa at the airport on arrival, I changed my visa to student visa from inside the UK before my tourist visa had expired (it was possible to do that at the time) and I have been renewing my visa as a student ever since. I believe next year I will be entitled to apply for ILR. What I would like to know is whether the tourist visa counts towards the 10 year or whether I need to wait until my student visa period started, which would be in July?

Thanks for your help!

Lucy

Any kind of lawful residence counts towards long residency as long as there has been no gap.
