want to switch and change my job and need suggestions

Post by felsof » Thu Mar 07, 2013 10:34 am

Hi All,

I am currently with a tier 2 sponsor but are not very happy with my role etc.
the pay is well but just the culture and ... does not work for me.

with set of skills i have and the experience i have , it would have been really easy to get another job which is highly or good paid in much better place .

The issue is as i am not a settled worker, i may have less chance of success as some business may be put off by the extra hassle of applying for sponsorship etc. am i looking at this to negatively ? what are your experience people whom are on T2 and have switched or even with your current employer.

the other thing that is stressful is that once i have a job offer from another place then i will have to give notice to my current employer but when i am giving the notice etc, i am in the process of applying for new visa which again don't know the outcome .
so if for any reason my visa is rejected or delayed, then i can not start work with the new employer and it will be a loose loose for me as i lose my chance to work for my current employer and also the new one

if applying to switch employer is rejected then will my current tier 2 visa also get rejected ?

i am in IT industry

many thanks

I also have this question.
You can work at least for your current employer up to the start date of your new visa.

You should agree the work start date in the new job taking account of the notice period in the present job.

Don't resign until your application for leave to remain is approved by UKBA.

Read para 197 of the T2 policy guidance

Hi, manci Guru. Many thanks for your reply.

Do you know whether one can work for the current employer beyond the start date of the new job?

Hi, manci Guru. Many thanks for your reply.

Do you know whether one can work for the current employer beyond the start date of the new job?/not beyond the start date stated in the new CoS

thanks very much . this is taking a bit of pressure off.

I will find the document and will read it. just to clarify, i should only give notice once the visa is approved not the cos assigned ? this means my hypothetical new employer should put a start data of 2-3 month from the data my cos is assigned so i get enough time to swap and move on to the new role

i don't think this is relevant but worth getting opinions on it .in general, do you think employers will be willing to wait 2-3 month for someone to start considering the other hassles of RMLT and etc ?
