Hello Guys,
Pls help! I am in urgent need of advise about the best way I can bring my son (aged 7) currently schooling and living outside the UK.
I am in UK (with ILR under T1 Gen obtained Jan 2013); but my son and his mother are living outside UK.
Should I apply for a visitor visa or him and then file for SET M when he gets here OR apply for him from the home country?
Any ideas?
Thanks guys.

Visitors may not be allowed to switch in-side UK and for visit visa, you have to prove you are sponsoring your wife and son to come here so better pay extra fee and apply for settlement as you will have to do that at the end of the day anyway

Assuming that son was not born in the UK:
If son's mother has valid leave as your Tier 1 (General) dependant, then he
may also apply for a
PBS Dependant visa. Else, they may apply for
settlement visas.

as this statement suggests
If you are now settled or have British citizenship and your most recent permission to stay was under Tier 1, your family members must apply as the dependants of a Tier 1 migrant if they do not yet qualify for settlement.

I am confused by the last response made by ali_asad.
Is it possible for the Tier 1, 2 or 5 PBS Dependant Form be used for dependant applications made outside the UK?

Ask the embassy if your dependants may also apply as PBS dependants.

Any ideas please? Pleased with your advise.
