Schengen Visa: Funds requirement question for spouse

Post by saurabhk179 » Sat Mar 09, 2013 1:35 am

Hi,

I am applying for a Schengen Visa from French embassy but stuck with one question.

I am an Indian national with Tier 2 visa and have all the required documents with me. My wife came recently to UK and the bank account is hardly 3 days old. I would be sponsoring the entire visit. The following question:

33. Cost of travelling and living during the applicant's stay is covered

has 2 choices:
1. By the applicant himself / herself
2. By a sponsor (host / company / organization)

Is the answer supposed to be "By a sponsor" and i mention my details? I am none of the categories mentioned in the bracket, and so not sure what should go in here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

In the case of families, it is quite normal to have joint funds for a trip even if only one party has the funds in their name.

If you have the time, you can run through this document, which gives details as to how visa applications are treated.
