Tier 2 (change of employment)

Post by supriya365 » Mon Mar 11, 2013 10:32 pm

I have submitted notice for resignation from my job and I have started looking for a new job with Tier 2 visa.

The above mentioned document says that "Caseworkers should ensure that the new application is received within 28 days of a person’s previous employment ceasing."

So does that mean I can stay in the UK for another 28 days after my employment is terminated on 31st March?

Many thanks for your time and for helping me.

No. The UKBA will notify you in writing (provided your employer informed UKBA about the termination of your contract) that your leave is being curtailed and give you a day by which you should either have submitted an application for leave to remain or should leave the country.

supriya365,

As far as I am aware, you can stay till 60 days in UK after the job termination. I was in the similar situation earlier and I got this info from the Immigration Enquiry Bureau. Call the below number for detailed info...

From the Immigration Enquiry Bureau on 0870 606 7766. Lines are open 09:00 until 16:45 Monday to Thursday and 09:00 until 16:30 Friday (excluding public holidays). The UK Border Agency offers advice on it's website, select the link on the right.
