Visa options for my NZ girlfriend

Post by asl111dan » Tue Mar 12, 2013 8:30 pm

Hi forgive me if this is in the wrong section but as forms go i find this one hard to navigate, anyway im Irish and met my girlfriend when she was on her one year working visa in Dublin, after the year she applied for the two year UK working visa.

She was lucky enough to find a job in Belfast and its there she is currently working. I was also lucky enough to be able to work in Belfast for the best part of a year, but now im back in Dublin and she has one more year left of the UK visa.

I am just wondering what here options really are? because from what i can find out online its either go to college or go home.
If she decides to go and study here what is the criteria, I seem to recall you need to have access to 7000 befor you are eligible for a student visa?

Any information or help would be appreciated!

Google "De Facto Relationships". That will give you a good lead

Thank you very much for that.

But we dont have a joint account and dont have any bills in both names. I plan on living in Belfast for 4 nights a week with her for a year and we will then have a sky or electricity bill in our names, but no joint account.

do you think we would still have a case in a years time?

Definitely!. Atleast you have a year to organise things in relation to that. I also think its safe to say that you will have a strong case as she is from NZ and not some poor Asian country if you know what I mean.

yes we are one some of the lucky ones, that we are doing things right, she went to uk right on time and got the uk visa to allow her to work for a further 2 years, and we still have a full year to organise things. We have always said it should be ok because she is nz and not from a poor country.

and its usually the other way around irish going to nz

:D

The bills and the bank statements should show same address. You don't have to have joint accounts, just that it is addressed to the same place you are living in. She could have a mobile phone bill in her name and you could have the Gas bill in your name, so long as the address is the same, that's enough.

Hope, this clarifies.
