Extension of stay for dependant children below 9 years old

Post by kayboy » Wed Mar 13, 2013 12:53 pm

Hi there,

I have two dependants under 10 years old that I need to apply for extension of stay for in the UK. They are currently my dependants. We suppose to apply for ILR together in April. however, I will not be able to do so because I spent more than six months before I entered the UK after entry clearance was issued to me in 2008. Therefore at the expiration of my current leave, I will be short of 6 months to complete my five year qualifying period for ILR.This explain my reason for extension.

I have been finding it difficult to get PEO appointment booked for all of us (4 in total) but I have managed to get one appointment for myself and one dependent (my wife). My question now are as follows:

1) Can I take the remaining two dependants to Croydon on the day of appointment with the hope that they will be attended to since they are still kids (less than 9years old)?
2) If they will need to apply seperately, which fiorm will they use since no adult will be applying with them by that time? I have checked form FLR (M) and it seems it is not the right form.
3) How much will the two kids pay for the extension?

Your prompt response will be highly appreciated as my PEO appointment is friday 15 March.

Your dependants may apply as PBS dependants.

1. You can take them as visitors, not as visa applicant. However, you can check with the Croydon PEO directly if they allow additional dependents on your appointment.
2. You need to use the same form you used for your wife (PBS dependent)
3. Cost will be same as your wife's application (£900 per person).

Alternately, you can post your kids application. Current turn around for postal service is around 10-12 weeks.

Many thanks mates,
I was at the Croydon office yesterday but I was told the form I used was a wrong one.I actually used form FLR (o). Can sumebody advice me on the correct form to use? To recap, thefollowing is my situation -

March 10 2008 - Entry clearance was granted under HSMP
October 2, 2008 - I entered the UK
7 Apriol 2010 - I was migrated to Tier 1 General when my visa was extended
7 April 2013 - Current Residence permit under Tier 1 (General) expires

Now I need to extend my visa for another 6 months before I meet up with 5 yr qualifying period for ILR. My question os :
1) Which form will I use for this extension?
2) Which form will I use for my gependants
3) Is the HSMP approval letter applicable to me to reduce application fees?

Your promopt eesponses will be appreciated. Many thanks for your great support
