Spouse visa benefits

Post by aaronkhan » Wed Mar 13, 2013 2:57 pm

I lost my job in November 2012 and have been using my redundancy money to support my self and my wife. However I now need to claim job seeker allowance to support myself as my redundancy money is nearly finished and i have not found a job yet. My wife is on a spouse visa which expires in 2014 I am allowed to claim job seeker allowance in my name and if i do will it not effect her FLR OR ILR application? Also, my wife is pregnant and she she is due in September 2013 if i dont find a job by then will they deport her...im so worried .... can she seek ILR on the basis she is the child to a british national once it is born

Most importantly...your wife won't be deported. You are entitled to claim Job Seeker's allowance in your name without it affecting your wife's ILR application.
When the baby arrives, claim Child Benefit in your name.
