I have been in the unfortunate (or fortunate situation, depending on how you see it) of changing jobs within my company several times. I see it as fortunate ofcourse since its going up the ladder, but buying visas feels like a real kick in teeth!
I started with my company in 2008 on a WP and changed to a new job and got my Tier 2 visa towards the end of 2011, due to change of jobs within my company.
Now towards the end of 2012 I applied for another job (under a different SOC) within my company and I was offered the job. In my naivete, during the online application there was a tick box asking whether I need a visa, which I left unticked thinking I just recieved a new visa 9months ago, surely I wont need a new visa again. HR, however, contacted me and corrected this "foolish" assumption. So I am currently in the rather expensive process of getting a solicitor to sort out my affairs in a hurry (since I'm due to start early April). It seems impossible to get a PEO appointment no matter how many times I use the advised "tricks". This appointment black market is a bane on the little guy!
However, my issue really is the now rather expensive dependant visas. During 2012 I also got married and obviously my wife came over with her dependant visa.
My question is: 1) Since my wife's visa expires in Aug-2014, she being on a PBS dependant visa, do I need to renew her visa along with mine? I ask this since her new visa will essentially be more of the same - PBS Dependant.
2) Suppose I do get her a new dependant visa, do I need to get her a visa again in June/July, when I apply for ILR? That'll just be another kick deep in the back side! A friend of mine managed to bypass this by appealing to the UKBA who said, in writing, his wife can just apply for settlement at the end of her leave to remain, at which point she'll have completed the 2 year qualifying period.
Another googlie, if you will, is that my wife's pregnant (HURRAY!!). We're expecting the baby to arrive early June... I suppose I qualify for ILR mid-June, which would be 28days before my first WP start date. So on this point:
How do I handle the visa situation/immigration status for the baby?
In case you were wondering: NO, I DONT LIKE MAKING THINGS EASY FOR MYSELF!
Any help would be gratefully recieved.
