Do I have to inform my employer of my visa extension appli

hi Experts,

My Tier1 is ending on 23rd March2013, i have applied for extension. I have verbally told my manager about my visa extension application, but Do I have to inform my employer FORMALLY about this?

Reason i am asking is there is a fair chance that my application will be processes after 23rd March.

No need to inform. When application is in progress, you are allowed to work and live as you do on T1 (G).

I would recommend to inform your employer as they already have your current visa end date.
