Retaining ILR Status

Post by ap11 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 7:05 pm

Hi,

I'm a British Citizen and my wife has an ILR status in the UK.

We are planning to move and live abroad for a few years (Outside the EU). My wife is an Indian national and doesn't want to apply for British Citizenship.

My question is, if we do live outside the EU for a few years (e.g. 10 years) and return back to the UK, will she still have a valid ILR status and will she be allowed to enter the UK without any hassles? (She obviously will have strong ties to the UK, being my wife??!)

We do not own a property in the UK, would it help if she owned a house/property/bank accounts here in her name?

Thanks in advance..
