Requirement to visit home country

Post by corum99 » Sun Mar 17, 2013 6:41 pm

Hi,

I'm looking to bring my fiance over from the Philippines.

We met whist she was over here on a work visa and spent a year cementing our relationship.

On the border agency website it states that in order to demonstrate a genuine and subsisting relationship, it is necessary to visit each others home country/families.

She has met my family whilst here and we converse daily via wi-fi calls during which I have greeted her family (mostly non english speaking). Is it really necessary for me to travel half way around the world in order to prove to the border agency that the relationship is genuine. Whilst I meet the financial requirements i'm by means a high earner and the cost involved, on top of everything else, seems like pouring money down the drain.

Thanks.

The requirements are that you have met (physically) and there has been intervening devotion since then. How you prove this is really up.

What you say certainly makes sense and I do hope that's the case. The BA website did seem quite specific on the matter though.

Keep a log of phone calls and chat history. Skype is good for that. You need to show evidence that the relationship exists.

Ok thanks. We do use skype but mostly google chat (texting) and tango (voice calls), i'm pretty sure all of them retain a history of some kind, just need to capture it I guess or export it.

Yes, make sure it's capturing history. Save it because if your pc breaks you could lose it.

Google talk is looking promising. It has a record of 1150 chats going back to last June. Each chat is summarised on one line with a timestamp and the number of lines of chat that took place. then its possible to click into each one for the chat itself. I've taken screen captures of the summaries which runs into about 30 pages, that's without any of the actual chat itself. Hopefully that will do, along with a random few chat's themselves? there is a gap from last April to June during which the 'save chat history' wasn't activated.

As for Tango, I only have call logs going back a month or so, since I last formatted my android phone.

Edit: Just had a look at the file size for my screen captures, 47mb!
I wonder if i could upload the evidence/photos etc to Mega or Dropbox and then send the link to the BA?
