Naturalisation for Spouse (3yrs or 5 yts)

Post by hpgalliford » Tue Mar 19, 2013 2:10 am

Hi Guys

Please advise me on this one

I got my ILR in NOV 2011 (10 yr Long Residency) and got my BC in February 2013
My wife came to UK in MAY 2009 (As my dependent, I was on Tier 1 General at that time) she eventually applied for her FLR(M) and then Indefinite. She got her indefinite Visa in May 2012

Is she eligible to apply for BC after a year i-e in May 2013 ( she is in the UK for 3 yrs and 10 months)
I understand there are 2 different 'time in the UK' requirememnts to be elligible to apply for naturalisation (5 yrs if the spouse is not British or 3 yrs if British)

I have recently naturalised as a british citizen. so is she elligible to apply in May 2013?

Please Advise

Regards

Good Character Requirement

Post by hpgalliford » Sun Apr 21, 2013 12:05 am

Hi Guys

I have another query, posting it here to establish the history of the case as well

I am now filling up the Form AN for my wife. in Section 3 Good Character Requirement the occupation of the applicant.
My wife is not working at the moment, but I cannot see any option to choose
what shall i write there?
If i write HOUSE WIFE and leave 3.2, 3.2, 3.4 and 3.5 blank will this be Ok?
We are not claiming any benefit or allowance for her not working.

Please advise

Kind Regards

That's fine, you don't need to be employed to naturalise yourself as a bc. If she is entitled to benefits she should be claiming them.
