ILR success story at Solihull PEO-21/03/13-317 days absence

Post by vd_ilr » Thu Mar 21, 2013 10:26 pm

Today 21st March 2013 I got my ILR approved at Solihull PEO. Thanks to everyone for their valuable feedback and this forum has indeed helped me a lot in getting my ILR approved.

My details:
Work Permit Stamped : 14 May 2007
Date of entry to UK : 09 Sep 2007
Tier 1 (General) Stamped : 12 June 2008
Tier 1 (General) Extension: 21 June 2011

Below are my absences from UK for the 5 year period from the date of application.

Year To Date From Date No. of Days outside UK

Year 1: 21-03-2013 22-03-2012 38
Year 2: 21-03-2012 22-03-2011 28
Year 3: 21-03-2011 22-03-2010 133
Year 4: 21-03-2010 22-03-2009 88
Year 5: 21-03-2009 22-03-2008 30

My appointment was at 12:00 and it took only 10 minutes for the case worker to approve my case. The only question the case worker asked was about the 5 year period that my application is based on (was it on Work Permit or Tier 1?) and for which I answered Tier 1.

Please note I am applying after 5 years and 6 months and all my absences above were during Tier 1. The only documents I was asked during the appointment were:
SET(O) Form
2 Photographs
Passport and Biometric Resident Permit card
Life in the UK Test certificate
12 month payslips
12 month bank statement

I wasn't asked any questions about absences and no proofs were submitted. I did carry below documents incase the case worker asked:
5 year P60
Employment history from HMRC
Payslips during holidays
Letter from employer explaining the annual leaves taken.

I also offered an absence sheet giving the number of days outside UK, entry/exit dates and respective page numbers from the passport. Also in the bank statement I did highlight the line where my salary was credited. Whenever each document (original) was handed over to case worker I did give a photocopy as well. Case worker quite liked this and did convey her thanks.

Overall it was a nice interactive session with case worker discussing my current job, future plans etc...I quite liked it. No tension at all :)

So the final quote is "Make your application as simple as you can. Do not make it complicated by giving lot of documents. You may keep it, but give it only when requested"

Cheers!

Congratulations. Well done. May be CW liked you,so she approved in 10 minutes. You must have made a real impression on her. I don't know there were 2 Tier 1 Applicants at Solihull, who were asked for Employment History/P60s. Don't know to make their Case stronger they handed over these documents. I see you have not been asked for Maintenance Statement too.

Thanks Guys..

@Kevin: I made the payment using my Visa debit card. Personally I don't have any experience with other PEO's but I would rate Solihull PEO as 5/5.

Coz of people like you they expect so much of documentation from us which is not even relevant mate. Why not just take the stuff that is only needed. Why on earth people want to be overly nice to these pricks. I dont understand man! Just go by the books man...no need to hand the photocopies and what not..that makes life easier for everyone else applying after u!!!!

@faisalshah35

Hello mate, its my ILR and I believe I have the right to choose what to give and what to keep behind. If you are talking about the photocopies that I shared, please read below:
S E C T I O N 1 1 - D O C U M E N T S
11A All applicants
Any previous passports or travel documents you have held during your stay in the UK.
You must provide the documents specified below which are relevant to your application. If you do not, we reserve
the right to decide your application on the basis of the information and documents provided. Tick the relevant boxes
to show the documents you are providing. They must be originals. You should photocopy each of these documents
and provide the copies in addition to the originals.
You should also provide passport/s along with photocopies of any
pages that contain personal details, visas or immigration stamps (foreign or UK).
If you are "going by the books" as you mentioned then why you here in the forum? It's nice to have a forum like this to read the experiences and answer any queries.

Hope this doesn't hurt anyone!

Cheers!

I see you have given the documents asked by the CW. Some you did not give because you were not asked for. It;s theCW decides what documents they want to see not ourselves. Photocpies would have certainly helped the CW doing by themselves. I don't see any problem with your documents. So Don't worry.

I don't know why you are taking your anger on him. He gave the documents what were asked by the CW and the photocopies of same. What else he could have done differently. Please give your thoughts.

Hey @vd_ilr, please do share your picture on the forum.
We demand to know :P degree of cuteness you possess to leave impression on the lady.

Kidding for sure.

Congratulations mate. I totally agree on simplicity part.
More you throw at the poor chap, more confusing it will get.

Congrats vd

I am in a very similar situation and will be applying for the ILR soon. Out for 384 days in total. Did you provide any covering letter for your application? Also, did you fill up the leave section on the application?

Thanks :)
