cash in fixed deposits

Hi guys,

may be this was asked b4 .but I could not find any.

are any cash deposits held in foregn financial institutions where the money is accessable anytime are accepted as evidence for maintanace funds?

There is nothing in there which states that a foreign account cannot be used. MHO is that so long as the account provides instant access to the funds in it, it can be used as evidence for maintenance funds.

Cash in fixed deposit in not acceptable for maintenance.

Reason:

Fixed deposit has time constraints and UKBA clearly said

''shares, bonds, pension funds, regardless of notice period, are not acceptable''

If your Bank manager can write a letter stating that amount XYZ is fixed deposit however can also be available for instant use then i think UKBA will accept it.

thanks guys .But fixed cash deposit should be acceptrable isnt it ? even if there is time constraint - as it says "even when notice should be given".
(para 158 of the guidance)

So you saying Fixed Cash Deposit is your savings?

Just answer one question:

Is there any notice period required to withdraw this money?

no.but i think even if there is - it is acceptable as long as it is CASH .this is what I understand formt he guidleines .plz correct me if I am wrong.

So you saying its not savings account and no notice period is required to withdraw funds?

If that's the case then get a letter from your bank stating that no notice period and funds are available immediately as cash withdraw and bank transfer.

Only a letter can clarify the whole thing to case worker. Get the letter asap and send it to UKBA via fax with covering letter stating your case number.
