Moving to Czech Republic with Non-EU Wife

Post by will-power » Mon Mar 25, 2013 9:25 pm

Me and my soon-to-be wife are considering moving to Czech Republic together due to the strict UK visa regulations. But still with moving abroad with a wife who isn't from an EU country there are other considerations we need to acknowledge and I am a little hazy on the correct visa we need for her to be with me there.
Also how long we have to be there for and what i need to do to be able to bring her back to the UK if we desired in the future.

My sister owns a house there and will provide us with accommodation if we decide to go.

I am British and my fiancé is from Georgia.

I know I don't need a visa and can stay for up to 3 months in Czech and after then apply probably for a long stay permit, but what requirements do i need to fulfil to have her with me?

Which visa does she come under? Is the visa affected that we are married?

And can we both go together or do i have to go and then request for her to join me through family reunification?

Are there any other considerations i may not know about already i should be aware of?
If any body can enlighten me to any of these queries or has any kind of similar experience it would be hugely appreciated.

Once you are married, it will be easy to apply for an entry visa. The important point is that after three months, you will need to be a worker, self-sufficient or student.

Have you read through directive 2004/38/EC?

Please see a link to this directive. It explains what your rights are and also what your non-EU family members' rights are.
